Tratamento de estimulação cognitiva beneficia pacientes da Casa de Cuidados do Ceará

Na Casa de Cuidados do Ceará (CCC), unidade da Secretaria da Saúde do Estado (Sesa) com foco na transição de pessoas em recuperação após internação hospitalar, pelo menos 50% dos pacientes têm a partir de 60 anos. Por isso, é comum aplicar medidas para preservar a cognição e melhorar a qualidade de vida de quem recebe assistência no equipamento.

A estimulação cognitiva é feita por meio de jogos, práticas manuais, de leitura, escrita e dança, sendo indicada para pessoas com ou sem quadro de demência e para quem apresenta dano neurológico com prejuízo em alguma função cognitiva. Pacientes com Alzheimer e em tratamento de acidente vascular cerebral (AVC), por exemplo, podem ser beneficiados.

“O declínio de funções cognitivas dificulta o desempenho de atividades cotidianas, impactando na independência ou na autonomia do paciente. O profissional deve compreender os aspectos essenciais do manejo de questões clínicas, de orientação familiar e de adaptação funcional para obter uma resposta positiva”, explica Nívea Barros, terapeuta ocupacional da CCC, estrutura sob gestão do Instituto de Saúde e Gestão Hospitalar (ISGH).

“A vida ativa está ligada à cognição. Então, os jogos estimulam áreas cerebrais para fortalecer as habilidades cognitivas. A pessoa idosa treina e exercita a mente e, muitas vezes, não percebe, pois está interagindo e se divertindo simultaneamente. As atividades são excelentes para desenvolver o raciocínio lógico e a tomada de decisões”, afirma a terapeuta ocupacional e gerente da Casa, Itala de Brito.

Terapeuta ocupacional, neuropsicólogo(a) e psicopedagogo(a) são profissionais essenciais nesse acompanhamento. Na CCC, o atendimento também é realizado por médicos, fisioterapeutas, nutricionistas, assistentes sociais e trabalhadores da Enfermagem. “Cada um atuando com sua especialidade na assistência à necessidade de cada paciente”, acrescenta a diretora da unidade, Ursula Wille Campos.
