A campanha nacional “De Olho nos Olhinhos” realizará em Fortaleza nesta terça-feira, dia 16, um mutirão gratuito oferecendo gratuitamente o Teste do Olhinho, por ordem de chegada, sem necessidade de agendamento prévio, em uma ação que irá das 7 horas às 13 horas na sede do Caviver – Centro de Aperfeiçoamento Visual Ver a Esperança Renascer (Rua Antônio Augusto, 761, Meireles). A atividade também ocorrerá no dia 23 de setembro.
Durante o mutirão, cerca de 100 crianças serão atendidas por uma equipe multidisciplinar formada por médicos oftalmologistas, fisioterapeuta, terapeuta ocupacional, assistente social e outros profissionais, reforçando a importância da atenção à saúde ocular desde os primeiros meses de vida e integrando a campanha nacional.
A campanha nacional “De Olho nos Olhinhos” foi idealizada pelos jornalistas Daiana Garbin e Tiago Leifert, após a filha do casal ser diagnosticada com a doença, com o objetivo de conscientizar famílias e profissionais de saúde sobre a importância do diagnóstico precoce. Em Fortaleza, a organização não governamental Caviver – Centro de Aperfeiçoamento Visual Ver a Esperança Renascer participa da iniciativa oferecendo gratuitamente o Teste do Olhinho nos dias 16 e 23 de setembro.
Para Islane Verçosa, oftalmologista e presidente do Caviver, a campanha representa uma oportunidade de ampliar o acesso ao diagnóstico precoce e ao tratamento adequado. “Queremos alcançar o maior número possível de crianças, especialmente aquelas em situação de vulnerabilidade social. A ação reforça nosso compromisso com a saúde ocular infantil e a prevenção da cegueira”, afirma a médica.
Retinoblastoma: tumor ocular mais comum na infância
Embora represente aproximadamente 4% dos diagnósticos de câncer infantil, o retinoblastoma é o tumor ocular maligno mais comum na infância, com maior incidência entre bebês e crianças de até cinco anos. No Brasil, cerca de 400 crianças recebem o diagnóstico anualmente. Quando detectado precocemente, as chances de cura chegam a 90%, tornando o exame preventivo essencial para preservar a visão e prevenir a cegueira infantil.
O tumor se desenvolve nas células da retina, tecido responsável pela visão, e pode afetar um ou ambos os olhos. A maioria dos casos ocorre de forma esporádica, acometendo apenas um olho, enquanto cerca de 30% são bilaterais e de origem quase sempre hereditária. As Diretrizes de Atenção à Saúde Ocular na Infância, do Ministério da Saúde, recomendam que o Teste do Olhinho seja realizado nos recém-nascidos ainda na maternidade e repetido de duas a três vezes ao ano nos três primeiros anos de vida.
