Com o objetivo de conscientizar e alertar sobre o retinoblastoma, um tumor ocular que acomete crianças de até cinco anos de idade, a campanha “De Olho Nos Olhinhos” será realizada em diversas cidades brasileiras neste sábado (16) e domingo (17). Fortaleza entrou na programação da campanha graças à mobilização de médicos voluntários, que farão ações de conscientização e prevenção em dois shopping centers da capital cearense, o RioMar Fortaleza, sábado, das 10h às 21h; e domingo, das 13h às 21h, e no North Shopping Fortaleza, sábado das 10h às 21h.

A campanha está em sua segunda edição e surgiu como uma iniciativa dos jornalistas Daiana Garbin e Tiago Leifert. A filha do casal, Lua, hoje com quase 3 anos, foi diagnosticada com retinoblastoma quando tinha 11 meses e ainda está em tratamento.

Em Fortaleza, a campanha terá o apoio das equipes de Oftalmologia do Hospital dos Olhos – Caviver (por meio da médica Islane Verçosa) e da Associação Peter Pan (com a coordenação da médica Daiane Memória); de Oncologia Pediátrica do Hospital Infantil Albert Sabin (sob a coordenação da médica Viviany Viana); e de Oftalmologia Pediátrica do HGF – Hospital Geral de Fortaleza (coordenada pela Dra. Cecília Juaçaba).

“A campanha pretende ser um momento de conscientização dos pais sobre a importância de levar a criança ao oftalmologista nos dois primeiros anos de vida e também de fazer o Teste do Olhinho, de forma repetida, desde o período de alta da maternidade e em toda consulta de puericultura durante o desenvolvimento da criança. Nos locais montados nos dois shopping centers aqui em Fortaleza, vamos distribuir uma cartilha informativa sobre saúde ocular, conversar com os pais sobre o Teste do Olhinho e realizar o teste em crianças, de forma gratuita, e mostrar como é algo simples, indolor e que toda a criança deve ser submetida como forma de prevenção de doenças”, comenta a médica-oftalmologista Islane Verçosa, uma das coordenadoras da campanha em Fortaleza e diretora do Hospital dos Olhos – Caviver.
