Estudos com pele de tilápia doada pela Bomar Pescados inovam pós-operatórios de cirurgias plásticas no Brasil

A pele de tilápia, um dos peixes de água doce mais criados e comercializados no Brasil e no mundo, tem sido uma importante aliada no pós-operatório de cirurgias plásticas, na ginecologia, na odontologia e até na medicina veterinária. Essa inovação é resultado de um longo trabalho de pesquisa realizado desde 2015 por entidades cearenses como o Instituto de Apoio ao Queimado, que cuida de vítimas de queimaduras gratuitamente, e o Núcleo de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento de Medicamentos da Universidade Federal do Ceará (NPDM/UFC), em parceria com a Bomar Pescados, empresa cearense que fornece as peles de tilápia para a pesquisa.

Os estudos com a pele de tilápia partiram da observação dos pesquisadores de que o biomaterial poderia ser bastante benéfico para a cicatrização, pois tem uma concentração da proteína colágeno tipo 1 maior do que a da pele humana e o dobro da pele do porco, além de ser altamente resistente à tração e com bom grau de umidade.

Entre os casos em que o biomaterial tem sido usado está o pós-operatório de crianças com Síndrome de Apert. A doença é caracterizada pelo fechamento de algumas estruturas em todo o corpo, causando a união de dedos das mãos e pés, entre outros males. Após a cirurgia de separação dos membros ser realizada, a pele de tilápia ajuda na cicatrização mais rápida e na diminuição das dores pós-operatórias.

A pesquisa já beneficiou mais de 100 pacientes na ginecologia, em torno de 40 na odontologia, na Síndrome de Apert 11 crianças, e na veterinária, mais de 100 cães em tratamentos de lesão de córnea e de reconstrução de hérnia. Na busca por fornecedores da pele de tilápia, a Bomar Pescados foi a escolhida pela ótima genética do peixe, por seus cuidados no trato da manipulação, higienização tanto nas fazendas de criação quanto na indústria; e na precisa retirada da pele onde está o colágeno necessário para a cicatrização.
