A arte de cortar um cabelo também passa pela conscientização em ajudar o próximo. Embora as tesouras não façam mais parte do seu dia a dia, o presidente da Associação dos Cabeleireiros do Estado do Ceará (ACEC), Gurgel do Amaral, vem abraçando a causa da doação de perucas para pacientes em tratamento de câncer no Ceará. No ano passado, foram entregues perucas durante a 30ª Feira Regional da Beleza e outras 10  para a Associação Casa Esperança e Vida, no município de Barbalha (CE). Neste ano, outras 10 mulheres residentes em Fortaleza tiveram a oportunidade de receber esse acessório tão importante por meio desta ação da associação, elevando a autoconfiança e a autoestima delas.

Aos 39 anos e diagnosticada com leucemia mielóide crônica no ano de 2014, a auxiliar administrativa Patrícia Lima Neves esteve na sede da ACEC no último mês de julho para receber a peruca. Ela, que conseguiu passar pelo transplante de medula em 2019, tendo como doador o irmão (100% compatível), viu a doença voltar mais agressiva em 2020. Já são quase 10 anos de tratamento e muitas superações. Em 2021, Patrícia sofreu duas paradas cardíacas e perdeu a visão do lado esquerdo. A careca até soube conviver, mas percebeu o quanto outras pessoas ficavam incomodadas e até notou como o preconceito ainda é grande, mesmo não sendo uma doença transmissível.

Situações constrangedoras no transporte público e até o olhar com medo de uma sobrinha de quatro anos – mas esta, totalmente inocente – fez com que ela resolvesse encarar o uso de uma peruca. Por meio de uma indicação, ela procurou a ACEC e escolheu o seu novo cabelo. “É um cabelo castanho escuro e está todo adaptado para a minha cabeça. O material é muito bom, não coça e nem esquenta. Até esqueço que estou de peruca e o bom, se quiser, é que posso até pintar de outra cor”, explica Patrícia. Ela, que precisou ser afastada do trabalho pelo INSS, teve que reinventar sua rotina para além do tratamento, marcado por reações muito fortes. Para ocupar a mente, desde 2020 ela passou a vender produtos on-line, como bijuteria, perfumes e peças íntimas.

Nem sempre Patrícia está disposta para ver pessoas que não sejam da própria família e sair de casa, ultimamente, é muito raro. Por isso, movimentar a sua rede social (@plnmodaseperfumes) com a venda de produtos tem ajudado bastante na ocupação do tempo. Mãe de quatro filhos adultos, de 19, 20, 23 e 24 anos, e com um netinho de sete meses, Patrícia contou que pela medicina o seu caso não tem cura e que terá que tomar remédio pelo resto da vida. “Isso me impossibilita voltar ao trabalho formal. Então, o jeito que encontrei foi virar empreendedora. O suporte do meu marido e da minha família é o que me ajuda a passar pelo tratamento”, ressaltou.

A parceria da ACEC com a Casa Rosa Beleza do Bem, com sede em São Paulo e responsável por confeccionar as perucas, vem desde o ano passado. Para o presidente da ACEC, Gurgel do Amaral, “o papel social precisa ser abraçado por todas as pessoas, entidades, associações e empresas. Somente assim, conseguiremos diminuir o sofrimento de quem mais precisa de uma mão estendida. No caso das mulheres em tratamento de câncer, é muito gratificante ver o sorriso delas quando recebem a peruca e se olham no espelho. Aqui, além de escolherem o modelo, elas podem também escolher o corte sempre que desejarem”. Na associação há instrutores para cursos e cortes de cabelo, pois as salas contam com toda a estrutura de um salão de beleza e de barbearia.
