Desde sua primeira edição em 1955, a exposição World Press Photo se tornou uma das mais renomadas plataformas globais para a fotografia documental e o fotojornalismo. Organizada pela Fundação World Press Photo, a exposição reúne anualmente as imagens vencedoras de seu concurso internacional, reconhecendo trabalhos que capturam com maestria os eventos, temas e histórias mais significativos do ano anterior.
A exposição é composta por fotografias selecionadas por um júri independente, a partir de milhares de inscrições enviadas por profissionais de todo o mundo. Em 2024, por exemplo, foram analisadas 61.062 imagens, enviadas por 3.851 fotógrafos de 130 países. Além de apresentar as imagens premiadas do ano, a fundação também organiza exposições temáticas com base em seu vasto arquivo.
