Roberto Galvão comemora 60 anos de arte com obras inéditas no Mauc

As artes visuais estão inseridas na trajetória de vida de Roberto Galvão desde a infância. Já se percebia a tendência às artes plásticas, quando caixas de sapatos e suas tampas eram telas e molduras em suas brincadeiras de criança. Considera, no entanto, o início de sua profissão nas artes no ano de 1964, quando passou a mostrar suas criações ao público.

Para celebrar as seis décadas de trabalho em arte, Roberto Galvão expõe sua produção mais recente na mostra “Sertão Galvão”, que poderá ser visitada de 24 de agosto a 18 de outubro no Museu de Arte da Universidade Federal do Ceará – Mauc, em Fortaleza, cidade onde nasceu há 74 anos. Tendo a curadoria de Saulo Moreno, expografia de Túlio Paracampos e apresentação de Regina Raick, a mostra se compõe de trabalhos em aquarela sobre papel e pintura acrílica sobre tela, entre outras técnicas. Mais de 60 obras foram realizadas a partir de 2023, em tamanhos que variam de 15cm por 20cm, a 5,10m por 1,60m.

“Neste ano, 2024, o mesmo em que a nossa querida Universidade  Federal do Ceará, a mais antiga do Estado, completa 70 anos de funcionamento, assim como a nossa Pró-Reitora de Cultura celebra o seu primeiro ano de existência na estrutura organizacional, o Museu de Arte da  UFC reabre suas portas a um artista que atravessa a nossa história, nosso  acervo artístico e vivencia, há 60 anos, o universo da arte de forma intensa e  nas suas mais diversas camadas e dimensões”, diz a museóloga Graciele  Siqueira, diretora do Mauc.

A abertura de “Sertão Galvão” acontece 50 anos depois da primeira exposição individual do artista, aberta em agosto de 1974, na mesma casa que recebe agora suas novas obras. “Nos anos seguintes, Galvão construiu uma carreira sólida e que se espraiou em várias frentes: ao fazer artístico, aliou a atuação como pesquisador, historiador, curador, arte-educador, gestor e, antes de tudo, um artista que plantou sementes que hoje formam um jardim fecundo e potente”, lembra o museólogo Saulo Moreno, curador da mostra.

“Ao celebrar os seus 60 anos nas Artes é impossível não fazer esse exercício de memória. Entretanto, não pensem que estamos falando de passado, somente. Antes de tudo, tratamos aqui de presente e de futuro ou, mais precisamente, de nosso devir, individual, coletivo e social. Toda memória só existe pelo trabalho, ou seja, pela dedicação, pela ativação contínua de processos complexos de lembrar e esquecer. Galvão conecta essas várias temporalidades e ao apresentar-nos a sua produção mais recente, convoca-nos à esperança e ao contínuo exercício da persistência e do sonho”, continua.

Sobre a mostra, o curador comenta: “O seu Sertão é multicolorido, vibrante, farto e convidativo. Longe das imagens de ausência e de falta, contrapõe o senso comum e agiganta nossos sentimentos pela elaboração de um corpus de imagens tentacular, que anseia romper a tela e percolar por aí, gerando vida e novos encontros. Dama da noite, flor do mato, chanana, antúrios, flor de cuxá, mandacaru, orquídeas: o seu jardim é generoso, expansivo, assim como é a sua trajetória, em que cabem diversificadas formas de pensar, viver e fazer”.

“Temos aqui um conjunto vibrante de obras que seduzem por sua beleza e afetam por sua densidade. Os trabalhos revelam o artista experiente, com raro domínio de uma diversidade de técnicas e materiais, mas que não se furta às experimentações, às mudanças e à construção de novos universos significantes. Nesse percurso, transparece a chama do seu compromisso duradouro com a arte e com o território que habita: suas gentes, artistas, paisagens, afetos e matrizes culturais”, diz.

SOBRE O ARTISTA

Os desenhos a grafite, lápis de cor e nanquim com bico de pena de metal, que já criava aos seis ou sete anos de idade, foram o ponto de partida para o artista cujo nome cruzou fronteiras. As artes de Roberto Galvão já foram vistas em exposições coletivas realizadas no Brasil e em outros países, entre os quais Argentina, Cuba, Uruguai, Estados Unidos, Espanha, França, Alemanha, Polônia e Bulgária, e individuais em Fortaleza, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, São Paulo, Teresina, Palmela (Portugal), Paris (França), Madri e Barcelona (Espanha).

Bacharel em História e Mestre em História Social pela Universidade Federal do Ceará, ao longo de sua carreira como artista, Roberto Galvão também dedicou bastante tempo e esforço na atividade de historiador da Arte, pesquisando, tomando notas e escrevendo algumas impressões sobre o movimento das artes no Ceará. Foi também gestor na área da cultura, ocupando alguns cargos na gerência pública e da classe artística.

“Permanentemente, quase por toda minha vida adulta, fui militante defensor da importância da educação estética e artística no desenvolvimento da capacidade cognitiva das pessoas. Nesse sentido, sempre tive interesse pela história, pela produção artística, pela culinária, que considero uma Arte, e pelos processos de arte/educação”, destaca.
