Dentre os sintomas mais comuns de infecções virais em idosos, estão: febre, coriza, mialgia (inflamação que gera dor muscular), indisposição, dor de cabeça, tosse, náuseas, vômitos e diarreia.
De acordo com o geriatra, a pessoa idosa pode ter manifestação atípica, apresentando somente sonolência, perda de apetite ou desorientação. “Em todos esses casos, é importante consultar o médico e evitar a automedicação”, alerta.
Sem os cuidados ideais, os quadros podem evoluir para infecções bacterianas como pneumonia, além de descompensar doenças crônicas como insuficiência cardíaca e enfisema pulmonar.
