Grupo JCPM apresenta práticas de comércio sustentável com impacto social e ambiental na COP30

Durante a Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre Mudança do Clima (COP30), que começa na próxima segunda-feira (10), em Belém do Pará, o Grupo JCPM apresentará suas iniciativas voltadas ao comércio sustentável, que unem eficiência ambiental e inclusão social. No Ceará, os shoppings RioMar Fortaleza e RioMar Kennedy mantêm associações de recicladores formadas por 23 famílias, sustentadas pela renda gerada com a destinação de resíduos das operações.
Juntas, as duas unidades já encaminharam mais de 654 mil quilos de resíduos para reciclagem, até outubro deste ano. Além disso, os empreendimentos foram responsáveis por compostar cerca de 70 mil quilos de resíduos orgânicos provenientes das operações de alimentação, reforçando o compromisso do grupo com a economia circular e o desenvolvimento local.
As experiências do Grupo JCPM integram o painel sobre Comércio Sustentável, que será realizado no dia 19 de novembro, quarta-feira, na programação oficial da COP30. O encontro contará com a participação de Thayara Paschoal, gerente de Sustentabilidade do Grupo JCPM, e de Glauco Humai, presidente da Abrasce (Associação Brasileira de Shopping Centers) e da CLICC (Associação Latino-Americana de Shopping Centers). O debate abordará temas como descarbonização das operações, fortalecimento de cadeias de suprimentos resilientes ao clima, financiamento da inovação verde e engajamento dos consumidores em escolhas mais sustentáveis.
Na ocasião, o Grupo JCPM também destacará outras práticas alinhadas à agenda climática global, como o uso de 100% de energia de fontes renováveis certificadas (I-REC) e o encaminhamento de 70% dos resíduos recicláveis para cooperativas locais.
  • Recife ganha destaque na COP30
Além do painel sobre comércio sustentável, o Grupo JCPM apresentará na conferência uma de suas principais iniciativas ambientais: o Projeto de Revitalização de Áreas Verdes (PRAV), desenvolvido no entorno do Shopping RioMar Recife. A ação transformou uma área degradada em um corredor ecológico na Bacia do Pina, Zona Sul da capital pernambucana, e será apresentada na Zona Azul, espaço oficial de debates da ONU.
O PRAV começou em 2012 e resultou na recuperação de uma área antes degradada por um antigo aterro industrial, na Bacia do Pina, na Zona Sul da capital pernambucana. Foram plantadas 686 mudas em 2,53 hectares, priorizando espécies nativas da Mata Atlântica, como ipês, pau-brasil, ingá e aroeira. Hoje, o local apresenta 75% de cobertura vegetal arbórea e arbustiva, árvores de até 15 metros e taxa média de sequestro de carbono de 1,32 tonelada por hectare/ano, integrando-se ao Parque dos Manguezais da Zona Sul do Recife — um dos maiores mangues urbanos do país.
Com o tema “Regeneração: O Compromisso do Nosso Tempo”, a apresentação acontece no dia 18 de novembro, às 10h, em painel promovido pela ONG britânica Responding to Climate Change (RTCC), entidade reconhecida pela ONU por promover boas práticas globais em sustentabilidade.
As ações ambientais apresentadas pelo Grupo JCPM na COP30 compõem seu Relatório ASG 2024, disponível em: sustentabilidade2024.jcpm.com.br.
