Dragão do Mar realiza programação especial em alusão à Data Magna do Ceará

O Centro Dragão do Mar de Arte e Cultura, equipamento da Secretaria da Cultura do Estado do Ceará (Secult Ceará), gerido pelo Instituto Dragão do Mar (IDM), realiza uma programação especial em alusão à Data Magna do Ceará, celebrada em 25 de março, data que marca a oficialização da abolição da escravidão no estado. A iniciativa visa destacar o protagonismo das pessoas negras em diversos contextos históricos e espaços sociais.

O líder abolicionista Francisco José do Nascimento, conhecido como Dragão do Mar ou Chico da Matilde, foi um dos principais nomes da luta pela abolição no Brasil. Conhecedor dos caminhos do mar à terra, teve forte atuação na segunda greve dos jangadeiros.  Ao lado de outro homem negro e livre, José Napoleão, chefe da capatazia do Porto, e sua companheira, Tia Simoa, em 1881, os jangadeiros se recusaram a embarcar pessoas escravizadas para o tráfico entre as províncias  brasileiras. Acompanhados de cerca de três mil pessoas reunidas na Capitania dos Portos em apoio aos grevistas, esse evento evoca a ousadia e o protagonismo negro cearense.

A abolição da escravidão no Ceará foi celebrada anos antes da Lei Áurea, com a alforria de 35 ex-escravizados. A homenagem a esses personagens resgata a luta do povo negro. Segundo Mabel Castro, relembrar essas figuras fortalece a cidadania e a justiça social, destacando a importância do território como espaço de reconhecimento e direitos.

“O nome Dragão do Mar carrega um significado profundo para a história do Ceará. Mais do que uma homenagem, é um símbolo de resistência, coragem e transformação. Ter um equipamento cultural com esse nome reafirma o protagonismo do nosso Estado na luta pela liberdade e na valorização da cultura. Aqui, celebramos não apenas a memória de Chico da Matilde, mas também a força da arte e da cultura produzidas no Ceará, no Brasil e no mundo. Esse espaço é um marco vivo de identidade, expressão e reconhecimento da nossa trajetória”, destaca Camila Rodrigues, superintendente do Centro Dragão do Mar de Arte e Cultura.

Dragão no Território: Preta Simoa e os Direitos das Mulheres

Dando início às atividades, no dia 29 de março (sábado), das 9h às 11h, acontece a ação “Dragão no Território: Preta Simoa e os Direitos das Mulheres”, no Bairro Moura Brasil. O encontro contará com a participação da especialista Louise Santana, bacharel em Direito, especialista em Gestão Educacional e Direito Eleitoral e consultora em soluções educacionais para metodologias inclusivas e práticas cooperativas.

A discussão abordará os direitos das mulheres, seus avanços e desafios, tendo como ponto de partida a trajetória de Preta Simoa, importante liderança feminina cearense. Preta Simoa teve papel fundamental na mobilização dos jangadeiros contra o transporte de negros escravizados para a capital da província do Ceará no século XIX, além de ser reconhecida por sua atuação na luta pelos direitos das mulheres e da população negra.

“O Ceará foi pioneiro no fim da escravidão, mas isso não significou liberdade plena para o povo negro e é por isso que ações como essa são tão essenciais. Ao relembrarmos figuras como Preta Simoa, que esteve na linha de frente da resistência, e conectarmos essa memória à luta por direitos das mulheres hoje, fortalecemos a cidadania e a justiça social no território. A Data Magna é um marco de direitos fundamentais. E a trajetória de líderes como Chico da Matilde, o Dragão do Mar, nos lembram que as conquistas do passado só fazem sentido se forem referência para o presente”, explica Mabel Castro – coordenadora do Núcleo de Articulação Territorial do Dragão do Mar.

 

Mulheres em Cena: As Guardiãs das Encantarias

Ainda no sábado, às 16h, acontece a última edição do “Mulheres em Cena: As Guardiãs das Encantarias”, uma roda de conversa promovida pelo Museu da Cultura Cearense (MCC). O encontro será realizado na Praça Verde e contará com a participação de Clea do Cumbe e Cícera Barbosa, com mediação de Mabel Castro.

Cleomar Ribeiro da Rocha, conhecida como Clea do Cumbe, é mulher quilombola, pescadora do mangue, defensora dos direitos humanos, ambientalista e agente cultural. Desde 1996, atua na luta pela defesa do território quilombola de uso comunitário e na afirmação da identidade quilombola pesqueira.

Ativista e defensora da inclusão cultural nas políticas públicas, Cícera Barbosa destaca a importância de promover diálogos sobre os direitos da população negra e os desafios ainda existentes para a garantia de suas conquistas.
